What is Vitality?

Are you Vital Enough?

In the Ensie Encyclopedia, vitality is described as follows:

“Vitality is about a person's healthy mental and physical condition, or the life force that someone has. A person may be physically healthy, but if the person is not feeling well mentally, he may lack the energy to live. Nowadays, vitality has become increasingly important. People try to live healthier lives, for example by eating healthy and exercising a lot. In addition to physical health, people also think more often about their mental health.

For example, people go to yoga for inner peace, but they are also more likely to go to a therapist if they are not feeling well mentally. Vitality is very important for a good and happy life. An unhealthy lifestyle (smoking, drinking, poor diet, poor sleep, etc.) can affect the mental state (fatigue, stress, lower performance). If you want to be vital, you must ensure a balance between the two. A synonym of vitality is also resilience. If someone has resilience, they feel mentally and physically able to undertake and do what they want to do.”

Ask yourself: Am I vital? Do I have enough vitality?

Perhaps it is a good idea to ask someone else whether that person thinks you are vital. We sometimes have the wrong (read: biased) image of ourselves. Do people in your immediate environment think you are vital? That you have enough vitality.

If the answer is positive, then that's fine. However, if the answer is negative, then ask what you think is wrong. In what areas is there room for improvement?

I know from experience that if you exercise too little, this affects your mental vitality. It is therefore important, as described above, to find a good balance between physical and mental vitality.

Then ask yourself this question: How can I ensure that I gain more vitality?

You can do this by working on it yourself, but you can also ask my help. If you ask for my help, it will become clear in an initial conversation what you want to achieve and what your goals are. In an extensive follow-up conversation we will then discuss what your daily habits are so that I can see where improvement is possible.

As a Vitality Motivator, I look at the way you spend your days. There are many factors that influence our vitality. Consider, for example, the quality of sleep.

Being healthy and vital is more than just the absence of feeling sick. It's about your life force and that's what we're going to work on.
